When it runs
First Tuesday of the month, at 10:00 AM, when properties are set for sale. Linebarger's Red River County detail record states sales "are typically scheduled for: 10:00 AM" and the sale is held "at the East Door, 200 North Walnut Street of the Courthouse of the said County, in the City of Clarksville, Texas." The current Red River County Property Sale List is dated 08/04/2026, the first Tuesday of August 2026, and carries 12 numbered tracts with judgment dates of 06-APR-26 and order issue dates of 01-JUL-26; most are marked "Scheduled for Auction" and three are marked "Cancelled." Linebarger's Texas FAQ states: "Public Tax Sales may only be conducted on the first Tuesday of the month except when January 1 or July 4 occurs on the first Tuesday. Then Sales may be conducted on the first Wednesday of the month." Red River County does not hold a sale every month, so check the list before traveling.
Registration and deposit

Register in person on sale day. Linebarger's Red River County record states: "Individuals wishing to bid on property at the sale must register with the Linebarger representative attending the sale prior to the start of the sale." Payment is due to the payee "Linebarger Law Firm" by "Cashier's Check or Money Order." Texas Tax Code 34.015 separately requires a bidder to present a written statement from the county tax assessor-collector showing no delinquent property taxes are owed. Red River County does not post that request form online, so contact the Tax Assessor-Collector at 903-427-3009 or tax.office@redrivercountytx.gov to obtain it before the sale.

Sale format and venue
Red River County runs a traditional in person courthouse auction, not an online sale. Bidding is oral and consecutive; Linebarger's Texas FAQ states "There is no formal bidding process for Public Auctions. Oral bids are made consecutively by whoever can raise the last bid made" and "All sales will be to the highest bidder." The winning bidder receives a Constable's Deed or Sheriff's Deed, which the same FAQ says is issued "within 4 to 6 weeks after the auction date" and remains subject to the former owner's statutory right of redemption under Texas Tax Code Chapter 34. Notice of sale "will typically be posted on or in: The Paris News." Minimum bids on the August 4, 2026 list run from $915.00 to $24,985.34 against appraised values from $915.00 to $241,292.00, so entry costs here are low by Texas standards. Beyond the scheduled auction, Linebarger's feed lists roughly a dozen Red River County tracts as "STRUCK OFF" or "FUTURE SALE" with status "Available for Future Sale"; the county record states "Struck-off properties may be set for sale in the future" and Linebarger's FAQ directs struck off inquiries to the county tax assessor-collector. Several struck off records carry the note "Subject to Post Judgment Taxes," meaning taxes accrued after judgment stay with the property. In person, live oral bidding at the Red River County Courthouse east door, 200 North Walnut Street, Clarksville. No online auction platform.

Red River County tax sale list and auction calendar

For Red River County tax sale 2026 searches, use the county-run sources below rather than a copied parcel list, and confirm the parcel, registration cutoff, deposit, and payment deadline against the county before you bid. If the parcels on this list are vacant land rather than houses, what buying land at a tax sale hands you is the place to start.

  1. Get the advertised list

Use Linebarger tax sale property search (select Red River County, TX) for the current advertised parcels, then recheck it before the auction.
  2. Register to bid

Register in person on sale day. Full requirements are in the sale card above.
  3. Sale day

First Tuesday of the month, at 10:00 AM, when properties are set for sale. The sale is live and in person; there is no online bidding platform. Confirm the venue and hour with the county office before you go.
  4. Confirm with the office

If the list, platform, and notice disagree, use Red River County Tax Assessor-Collector (Audra Long) publishes the sale list; the delinquent tax suits and the sale list are handled by Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP, Delinquent Tax Division, and bidder registration is taken by the Linebarger representative attending the sale as the source to confirm which parcels are actually offered.

Before you bid in Red River County

  1. Start with the live sale list

Pull the current advertised parcels from Linebarger tax sale property search (select Red River County, TX). Lists can change before the sale, so recheck the county source before you price a parcel.
  2. Confirm registration and deposit

  3. Check the state rules that change the bid

Read the Texas due-diligence checklist before bidding. Redemption, liens that survive a tax deed, title cleanup, and payment deadlines can change what a parcel is worth. Which liens survive is state law, so read what survives a tax deed in Texas before you price the title work.
  4. Set a walk-away number

Work out what the parcel is actually worth with the rural land value estimator, then turn it into a ceiling with the tax deed max-bid calculator.

Over-the-counter (leftover) purchases

Texas has no over-the-counter certificate list. Parcels that draw no sufficient bid are struck off to the taxing unit that requested the order of sale, and that unit may resell them at any time by public or private sale. A public resale requested through the sheriff or constable may be sold for any amount. A private sale generally may not go below the lesser of the market value stated in the judgment or the total judgments against the property, unless every taxing unit entitled to proceeds consents. Ask the county or its delinquent-tax law firm for the current struck-off inventory.

County notes

  • County seat is Clarksville. The Tax Assessor-Collector is Audra Long; the office is open 8AM to 5PM Monday through Thursday and is CLOSED FRIDAY, so plan pre-sale paperwork around a four day week. Email: tax.office@redrivercountytx.gov.
  • The county Tax Assessor-Collector page carries the line "To View Tax Sales Properties: lgbs.taxsales.com (seach Red River County, TX)". That hostname does not resolve; the working Linebarger site is taxsales.lgbs.com. The county page prints it as plain text, not a clickable link.
  • Neither the Red River County Sheriff page nor the County Clerk, District Clerk, Constable, or Public Notices pages carry tax sale postings. The Sheriff page lists Sheriff Jimmy Caldwell, 500 N Cedar St., Clarksville, TX 75426, phone 903-427-3838. The Constable page lists Shawn Roden at the Red River County Courthouse, 400 North Walnut Street. Texas Tax Code 34.01 assigns the sale to the sheriff or a constable, but no official county page names which officer conducts the Red River County sale.
  • The county's online property tax payment portal is redriver.propertytaxpayments.net. It returned a bot challenge rather than page content when fetched, so nothing from it is reported here.
  • redrivercad.org is a private TaxNetUSA property search site that states "This private website is paid for by sponsorships, and is not affiliated with any government agency." It is not an official source and was excluded.
  • The Red River County Property Sale List PDF is published per sale date at a dated URL under taxsalesib.lgbs.com and will change or disappear after the sale. Use the taxsales.lgbs.com search for the current list.
  • Plaintiff taxing units on the August 2026 list include Clarksville Independent School District, City of Clarksville, City of Annona, City of Avery, and Red River County itself; cause numbers are filed in the 102nd District Court.

Texas rules

Redemption
The redemption clock runs from the date the purchaser's deed is filed for record, not from the sale date. Property that was the owner's residence homestead or was land designated for agricultural use when the suit or the warrant application was filed, and any mineral interest, may be redeemed on or before the second anniversary of that filing. Every other property may be redeemed only through the 180th day after the deed is filed. When a parcel is struck off to a taxing unit instead, the period runs from the date the taxing unit's deed is filed for record. The former owner has no right to use, possess, or collect rent from the property while the redemption right runs, and the right of redemption cannot be sold or transferred: any instrument purporting to transfer it is void.
Deed deposit
The Tax Code sets no statewide deposit and no buyer premium. Section 34.01 directs the officer to conduct the sale the way similar property is sold under execution, so payment terms are set locally by the officer who runs the sale. Most Texas counties collect the full bid in cash or by cashier's check on the day of the sale. Confirm the terms with the county before you bid.
Homestead deeds
Texas sets no separate opening bid for a homestead. What changes on a homestead parcel is the exit: a residence homestead, land designated for agricultural use when the suit or warrant application was filed, and a mineral interest all carry a two-year redemption right instead of 180 days, and the premium the owner pays can reach 50 percent in the second year. Price a homestead parcel for that longer clock.
Surplus proceeds
The officer pays any excess proceeds to the clerk of the court that issued the order of sale. The clerk holds the excess for two years after the sale and notifies the former owner when the amount exceeds $25. A claim must be filed before the second anniversary of the sale. The court pays established claims in statutory priority: a purchaser at a sale later adjudged void, taxing units for post-judgment or omitted taxes, other lienholders, taxing units for unsatisfied judgment amounts, and then the former owner. Anything unclaimed is distributed to the taxing units.
Governing statute
Tex. Tax Code Chapter 34

A tax deed does not convey marketable title. Most buyers file a quiet title action before they can resell or insure the property. See the due diligence guide.
