About
About Tax Sale Atlas
A free, neutral, sourced reference for county tax lien and tax deed sales.
Last updated July 4, 2026
Tax Sale Atlas exists to answer a simple question that is surprisingly hard to research: how does the tax sale actually work in this county? Every US county runs its own tax lien or tax deed process, and the rules, calendars, platforms, and lists are scattered across thousands of government sites. The companies that have aggregated this data mostly hide it behind paid subscriptions.
We put the free, neutral version in one place: per-state legal rules and per-county logistics, with a source and a verification date on every fact.
Who is behind Tax Sale Atlas
Founder, Tax Sale Atlas
Evan Reid is the founder of Tax Sale Atlas, a project of Amenti Labs LLC. He compiles the site's county and state tax-sale data from primary sources: state statutes and official county Tax Collector and Clerk of Court offices. He is not an attorney or a financial advisor, and Tax Sale Atlas does not provide legal or investment advice.
Focus areas
This is a deliberately small, independent project, not a course company or a data subscription. One person compiling public-record data in the open, with a source on every fact, is the whole model. If you spot an error, the fastest way to get it fixed is to email it.
What makes us different
- Sourced. Every legal and logistical fact links to a primary source, a statute or an official government page, with the date we last verified it.
- Neutral. We are not a course, a data subscription, or a guru. We describe the public process plainly and let you decide.
- Investor-focused.The content is written for people evaluating tax sales as an investment, with special attention to the deed buyer's hardest problem: valuing a parcel before the auction.
How we make money
The site is free. Some outbound links to investor tools are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you sign up through them, at no extra cost to you. That never changes the facts on a county or state page. See our affiliate disclosure and editorial process for the details.
A necessary caveat
Tax Sale Atlas publishes educational information, not legal, financial, or investment advice. Tax sale investing carries real risk, and rules change. Always confirm the current process with the county and consider a licensed professional before you bid. Read the full disclaimer.
