When it runs
First Tuesday of the month at 10:00 AM, held only when the delinquent tax attorneys have judgments ready rather than every month. The current Walker County notice is headed "SALES FOR JULY 7, 2026" with "LOCATION: WALKER COUNTY STORM SHELTER, 455 State Highway 75N, Huntsville, TX 77320" and "TIME: 10:00 AM." The same notice states the general rule: "These sales are held on the first Tuesday of the month between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at a place designated by the commissioner's court."
Registration and deposit

No advance bidder registration and no written statement of no delinquent taxes. The Walker County notice states: "Bidders should arrive 30 minutes early before the sale in order to sign-in. NO TAX DUE CERTIFICATE/BIDDER APPLICATION IS NOT REQUIRED IN WALKER COUNTY." That is the Tex. Tax Code section 34.015 written statement that many other Texas counties demand, and Walker does not. Bidding is on site at the Walker County Storm Shelter and sign-in is the only step. Payment: "The winning bidder must pay for their bid immediately following the sale. Certified funds (money order or cashier's check) and personal checks will be accepted - NO CASH. MAKE PAYABLE TO WALKER COUNTY CONSTABLE." For questions on any listed property the notice directs bidders to the PBFCM Conroe office at (936) 242-6815.

Sale format and venue
Walker County runs a traditional in-person redeemable deed sale. There is no online auction platform: the notice names a physical location (Walker County Storm Shelter, 455 State Highway 75N, Huntsville) and requires payment on the spot to the Walker County Constable, so plan to attend. The county's own Constable Tax Sales web page carries contact information only and publishes no calendar or property list, so the working source is the PBFCM county notice, which the Walker County Appraisal District links from its Tax Info menu as "Tax Sale & Trust Property." The July 7, 2026 list carried twelve cause numbers, nine of them stamped PULLED before the sale, which is typical: the index warns that "This list changes frequently, and properties may be pulled from the tax sale at any time without advance notice to any potential bidders." Minimum bids on that list ranged from $5,000 to about $131,679 and are marked "Subject to Post-Judgment Years," meaning taxes accrued after judgment are owed on top of the bid. Struck-off property is also available between sales: PBFCM publishes a six-page "Walker County Trust Property List" of tracts held in trust by the taxing units after receiving no bids at the original Constable sale, offered by full-amount purchase or at a public resale whose date is not yet set, with purchase inquiries to the PBFCM Conroe office at (936) 242-6815 or thernandez@pbfcm.com. Buyers take a redeemable deed subject to Tex. Tax Code section 34.21 redemption: two years for homestead, agricultural-use, and mineral interests, 180 days for all other property, running from the date the Constable's deed is filed for record with the county clerk. All sales are "as is," "where is," with no warranty of title.

Walker County tax sale list and auction calendar

For Walker County tax sale 2026 searches, use the county-run sources below rather than a copied parcel list, and confirm the parcel, registration cutoff, deposit, and payment deadline against the county before you bid. If the parcels on this list are vacant land rather than houses, what buying land at a tax sale hands you is the place to start.

  1. Get the advertised list

Use Walker County tax sale notice and property list (PBFCM Tax Sale and Trust Property index; the July 7, 2026 Walker notice is at https://www.pbfcm.com/docs/taxdocs/sales/07-2026walkertaxsale.pdf) for the current advertised parcels, then recheck it before the auction.
  2. Register to bid

No advance bidder registration and no written statement of no delinquent taxes. Full requirements are in the sale card above.
  3. Sale day

The sale is live and in person; there is no online bidding platform. Confirm the venue and hour with the county office before you go.
  4. Confirm with the office

If the list, platform, and notice disagree, use Walker County Constable, with the county's delinquent tax law firm Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott LLP (Conroe office) posting the notice and property list. The Walker County notice states that "Tax foreclosure sales are conducted by the Sheriff or Constable of the county where the property is located," that "Purchasers receive a Constable's deed that is without warranty," and that payment must be "MAKE PAYABLE TO WALKER COUNTY CONSTABLE." Walker County's Tax Assessor-Collector has no property tax duties: the county contracted collection to the Walker County Appraisal District in 2001. as the source to confirm which parcels are actually offered.

Before you bid in Walker County

  1. Start with the live sale list

Pull the current advertised parcels from Walker County tax sale notice and property list (PBFCM Tax Sale and Trust Property index; the July 7, 2026 Walker notice is at https://www.pbfcm.com/docs/taxdocs/sales/07-2026walkertaxsale.pdf). Lists can change before the sale, so recheck the county source before you price a parcel.
  2. Confirm registration and deposit

  3. Check the state rules that change the bid

Read the Texas due-diligence checklist before bidding. Redemption, liens that survive a tax deed, title cleanup, and payment deadlines can change what a parcel is worth. Which liens survive is state law, so read what survives a tax deed in Texas before you price the title work.
  4. Set a walk-away number

Work out what the parcel is actually worth with the rural land value estimator, then turn it into a ceiling with the tax deed max-bid calculator.

Over-the-counter (leftover) purchases

Texas has no over-the-counter certificate list. Parcels that draw no sufficient bid are struck off to the taxing unit that requested the order of sale, and that unit may resell them at any time by public or private sale. A public resale requested through the sheriff or constable may be sold for any amount. A private sale generally may not go below the lesser of the market value stated in the judgment or the total judgments against the property, unless every taxing unit entitled to proceeds consents. Ask the county or its delinquent-tax law firm for the current struck-off inventory.

New to this path? Read how over-the-counter purchases work. Every state has its own name for what goes unsold, so check what Texas calls its leftover tax-sale inventory.

County notes

  • Property tax collection is not handled by the Walker County Tax Assessor-Collector. The county's Property Taxes page states: "In 2001 Walker County Commissioners' Court contracted with the Walker County Appraisal District to collect 100% of the county's taxes... Texas rules

Redemption
The redemption clock runs from the date the purchaser's deed is filed for record, not from the sale date. Property that was the owner's residence homestead or was land designated for agricultural use when the suit or the warrant application was filed, and any mineral interest, may be redeemed on or before the second anniversary of that filing. Every other property may be redeemed only through the 180th day after the deed is filed. When a parcel is struck off to a taxing unit instead, the period runs from the date the taxing unit's deed is filed for record. The former owner has no right to use, possess, or collect rent from the property while the redemption right runs, and the right of redemption cannot be sold or transferred: any instrument purporting to transfer it is void.
Deed deposit
The Tax Code sets no statewide deposit and no buyer premium. Section 34.01 directs the officer to conduct the sale the way similar property is sold under execution, so payment terms are set locally by the officer who runs the sale. Most Texas counties collect the full bid in cash or by cashier's check on the day of the sale. Confirm the terms with the county before you bid.
Homestead deeds
Texas sets no separate opening bid for a homestead. What changes on a homestead parcel is the exit: a residence homestead, land designated for agricultural use when the suit or warrant application was filed, and a mineral interest all carry a two-year redemption right instead of 180 days, and the premium the owner pays can reach 50 percent in the second year. Price a homestead parcel for that longer clock.
Surplus proceeds
The officer pays any excess proceeds to the clerk of the court that issued the order of sale. The clerk holds the excess for two years after the sale and notifies the former owner when the amount exceeds $25. A claim must be filed before the second anniversary of the sale. The court pays established claims in statutory priority: a purchaser at a sale later adjudged void, taxing units for post-judgment or omitted taxes, other lienholders, taxing units for unsatisfied judgment amounts, and then the former owner. Anything unclaimed is distributed to the taxing units.
Governing statute
Tex. Tax Code Chapter 34

A tax deed does not convey marketable title. Most buyers file a quiet title action before they can resell or insure the property. See the due diligence guide.
