For Miller County tax sale 2026 searches, use the county-run sources below rather than a copied parcel list, and confirm the parcel, registration cutoff, deposit, and payment deadline against the county before you bid. County notes
- Tax Commissioner is Livvy Suggs, listed as Olivia Suggs on the office's legacy site. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Fax is (229) 758-4126. Email on the legacy site is info@millercountytax.com. No PO Box or separate mailing address is published; the office uses its street address at 155 S. First St., Colquitt, GA 39837.
- Two Tax Commissioner websites are live. millercopay.com is the current one, announced in an April 17, 2025 post titled "Welcome To Miller County Tax Commissioner's New Website!", and it is the site the county government homepage links to. The older millercountytax.com is still online but has only five pages and no tax sale page at all. Only millercopay.com carries a Tax Sales page, so use millercopay.com/tax-sales/ as the monitoring URL.
- Data quality is medium rather than high because the county-specific Tax Sales page was found but publishes no sale date, no platform, no bidder rules, and no parcel list.
- No online auction platform was found for Miller County. No GovEase, RealAuction, or Bid4Assets presence appears on any official Miller County page, and no platform URL is reported because none was verified.
- Sale notice is given by newspaper advertisement in the four weeks before a sale, in the Miller County Liberal, per the Tax Commissioner's General Information page. There is no email list, RSS feed, or subscribable sale calendar on the office site. Because the advertising window is only four weeks, re-check the Tax Sales page monthly.
- Colquitt is the county seat. Public outcry sales in Miller County are cried at the Miller County Courthouse door, per the wording used in the county legal organ's notices.
- Mobile home taxes are due April 1, with a 10% penalty added April 2 and a FiFa filed in the Clerk of Courts office 30 days from the delinquent notice date. Real estate and business personal property are due December 20.
- The county government site carries no tax sale content. Its Budget and Tax Rate page holds only tax digest and five year levy history PDFs, and its Public Notices page listed only budget, millage, and property appraisal inspection notices when checked. The county's Pay Property Tax Online link points to pay.racami.com, a bill payment portal with no sale or delinquent list.
- The Georgia Department of Revenue's County Property Tax Facts page for Miller points to millerga.org for the Tax Commissioner and Board of Tax Assessors. That domain is bot-protected and would not load during this research, and it is the domain used by the Board of Tax Assessors (boa@millerga.org). Use millercopay.com for the Tax Commissioner.
- Related offices: Miller County Board of Tax Assessors at (229) 758-4100 for values and parcel data, with property records hosted on qPublic at qpublic.net/ga/Miller. The Tax Commissioner site also links a property search and pay portal at millerproperty.assurancegov.com, which is a lookup and payment tool, not a sale list.
- Warranty deeds and the General Execution Docket where tax fifas are recorded sit with the Clerk of Superior Court in the Miller County Courthouse, per the office FAQ.
Georgia rules
- Redemption
- The right to redeem runs for 12 months from the date of the sale and does not end there. It continues after the year until the tax deed purchaser forecloses it by serving and publishing the statutory barment notice, which cannot be started until 12 months have passed. The purchaser delivers the notice to the sheriff at least 45 days before the redemption deadline named in it, and publishes it once a week for four consecutive weeks in the six months immediately before that deadline. Redemption puts title back in the defendant in fi. fa. subject to the liens that existed at the sale, and the purchaser must execute and record a quitclaim deed. Title under a tax deed recorded on or after July 1, 1996 ripens by prescription four years after recording. Judicial in rem foreclosures under Article 5 run on a different clock: the owner has 60 days after the sale to redeem by paying the minimum bid price into the superior court.
- Deed deposit
- Georgia sets no statewide percentage deposit. A purchaser at a judicial sale may tender cash or a cashier's or certified check drawn for the purchase price and issued or certified by a federally insured financial institution. Counties publish their own payment terms, and many require payment in full at the close of the sale, so confirm the terms with the tax commissioner before bidding.
- Surplus proceeds
- Excess funds left after taxes, costs, and the expenses of the sale belong to the former owner and to recorded lienholders in order of priority. The officer who sold the property must mail notice of the excess funds by first-class mail within 30 days to the record owner at the time of the sale, to the holder of each security deed, and to every other party with a recorded equity interest or claim, and may file an interpleader action in superior court. Funds still unclaimed five years after the sale are paid over to the Georgia Department of Revenue, after which only a court order from an interpleader action releases them.
A tax deed does not convey marketable title. Most buyers file a quiet title action before they can resell or insure the property. See the due diligence guide.
